21-August-2010. The Bajan Team of Jordan Heaselgrave, Dane Mackie, Joshua Burke and Jacob Burke made their appearance at the Rip Curl Grom Search presented by H20 Overdrive at New Smyrna Beach Inlet in Florida on August 21, 2010.
Groms from across the Sunshine State invaded New Smyrna Beach for the fourth and final stop of the Rip Curl Grom Search. A fun, crossed up swell welcomed the competitors who carried aspirations of the title, the cash, the loot, the coveted National Finals slot, and the bragging rights awarded to the 2009 Rip Curl Grom Search Florida Champion.
Despite small yet contestable conditions The Boys 12/under was the first final to hit the water on Sunday as the tide turned and the swell pushed. The closest final of the day, and Dane Mackie was narrowly edged out by Cobie Gitmer. Dane worked his way to the final of the 14 & Under
division and placed a commendable 3rd overall.
Jordan Heaselgrave finished =5th in the 16 & Under, Josh Burke =9th in the 16 & Under =5th in the 14 & Under and =5th in the 12 & Under Divisions while Jacob Burke =17th In the 12 & Under.
The final of the Rip Curl Grom Search will be held in Puerto Rico in October 2010 in conjunction with the Rip Curl Pro Search and promises to be an epic event.
