Event #3 Sponsored by Ashford Dairies is scheduled for June 12th at Long Beach, Christ Church. The divisions to be contested include 10& Under, 12& Under, 14& Under, Under 16 and Under 18 with 12& Under Girls and Under 18 Girls. Cost of entry is $30 for first division entered and $5 for additional divisions.
Event #4 of the BJSC Burkie Junior Surf Series will now take place on September 11th (previously scheduled for September 4th) to accomodate the travelling members who will be away for summer vacation and also those attending the NKF surf event in Cocoa Beach around that time.
Finally we are planning a special event for Beginners, Long Board and Family Fun day Event with parent-child surf activities. This event is tentatively scheduled for October 16th 2010. Please keep posted for further information on this event to be released shortly.

Local teenager Chelsea Tuach to attend Red Bull surf camp with Sofia Mulanovich in Peru
May 25, 2010. Barbados – Proving that opportunities come to those who work for them, 14-year old Chelsea Tuach from Barbados, who is the reigning Under 18 National Surf Champion and Caribbean Ladies’ Champion, will be traveling to Peru on May 26 to participate in Red Bull Girls Surfing Only camp with former surfing world champion, Sofia Mulanovich.
With just 14 years, Chelsea Tuach already exhibits great surfing potential, reason why she was invited to Red Bull Girls Surfing Only, a surfing camp in Peru with the former world champion, Sofia Mulanovich, that will take place May 27-31.
“I am extremely happy and excited about surfing with Sofia and Sally, two of my greatest idols. I can’t wait to meet them and surf with them – to become the best you have to surf with the best.” Chelsea commented.
Chelsea has been surfing the waves for six years and competes in all local and regional (Caribbean Surf Network) contests. She has also competed in ALAS (Association of Latin American Surfers) events and contests in the USA to gain as much exposure and contest practice as possible. This year, she has already won the Ladies division of the first Local Contest in February. She also won the Under 16 and Under 18 Girls’ Divisions of the School Surf Championships held in March and more recently won the Ladies’ Division of the Trinidad/Western Atlantic Pro International Surf Contest held in Sans Souci Trinidad.
The aim of Red Bull Girls Surfing Only is to provide young talents the opportunity to learn from and train with the world champion. The participants are carefully chosen among the best in Latin America and the Caribbean for their talent and commitment to the sport and they are expected to be the great surfing stars of the coming years.

Barbados Junior Surfing Club - Team Selection Policy
The Executive Committee of the Barbados Junior Surfing Club (hereinafter “BJSC”) today releases its BJSC Junior Team Selection Policy. The purpose of the Policy is to formalize the system in which the BJSC selects its junior athletes and support staff, to represent the BJSC at selected international surfing events.
The BJSC Junior Team Members will be eligible for funding to attend selected events, the amount of funding per event and selected team members is at the discretion of the BJSC Executive Committee. In relation to this summers events some funding will be contributed to all of our travelling junior surfer members. The Policy will take effect for all other future events as identified by the BJSC.
We welcome all BJSC members to familiarize themselves with the Junior Team Selection Policy and let us have any feedback.

Fujitsu Awards Sponsorship to Barbados Top Female Surfer Chelsea Roett
Bridgetown, Barbados, May 12th, 2010 - Fujitsu Caribbean today announced its support of the growing international Surfing sport through a sponsorship deal which the company awarded to Barbados’s top female surfer Chelsea Roett. The sponsorship will go towards Chelsea’s preparation for participation in international events by defraying expenses related to equipment and related travel costs. The initial Sponsorship will be for the 2010 Season with an option for renewal in 2011. It is Fujitsu’s intent to consider other Surfers to join their sponsorship program for 2011Season along with Chelsea.
Chelsea’s extraordinary talent first captured the attention of Fujitsu through it’s Executive Vice President – Caribbean, Ian Galt, who recognized Chelsea as an exceptional individual and highly focused young female surfer who has the drive and potential to make it at the highest level in world class surfing. Immediately, he expressed the desire for Fujitsu to be associated with such a remarkably talented young lady by assisting her in attaining her goals on her way to the top. “Chelsea’s dedication and commitment to continuous improvement, mirrors the same principles we apply in our business to serve our customers every day. Chelsea is currently leading the local standings in every division she competes in, which includes the Barbados Surfing Association’s Open Ladies and Under 18 Girls, and the Barbados Junior Surfing Club Under 18 Girls and Under 16 Juniors (boys and girls together).
On August 16th, 2009 Chelsea won the Rip Curl GromSearch 16 & Under Girl’s Division in New Symrna, Florida. She is the first Female Barbadian surfer to achieve 1st place in a US competition. With that win she received an automatic qualification to the Rip Curl GromSearch US National Finals in California where she again surpassed any female Barbadian surfer and placed 3rd in the finals. Chelsea already has a good start to her overseas contest schedule for 2010 as she placed 3rd in the Women’s open division at the Ron Jon Easter Surf Festival held in Cocoa Beach, Florida in April.
With the sponsorship package from Fujitsu Caribbean, Chelsea can now further her plans to compete in a series of contests on the United States East Coast during summer including, this years Rip Curl GromSearch.
