“Salty Mudd 'N' Eggs” Easter Treasure Hunt & Fun Rally on Saturday, April 17, 2010

The Barbados Junior Surfing Club will be holding the “Salty Mudd 'N' Eggs” Easter Treasure Hunt & Fun Rally on Saturday, April 17, 2010. The event is a fundraiser to assist with junior surfers competing locally and internationally. It will be hosted at Harbour Lights and will start at 10:00am with an after party and ...Prize Giving following the event.

Come join us as each team races to solve puzzles, search for 'strange' objects and encounter the unexpected along the way!!! With stimulating clues for navigation, be sure your team doesn't get "wiped out" by the competition.

Entries are open for the round the island fun rally and treasure hunt. Register your car and up to five team members per vehicle. Entry fee and donation is $50 per vehicle. Event #2 of the 2010 BJSC Burkie Junior Surf Series season sponsored by Tile Gallery was held at South Point on the 20th March 2010. The waves were solid with a 3-5 foot East swell running for most of the day. BJSC President, Alan Burke, noted that despite the solid surf it was a testament to the progress in our beginning juniors that water patrol was needed on so few occasions during the day. Many great performances were seen by all with solid hacks and lofty airs marking the standard that judges were expecting from our youth.

Junior Surfers ready for Event #2 of the BJSC Burkie Junior Surf Series

Defending Junior surf champs are ready to rip the waves at South Point this weekend in the Burkie Junior Surfing Championship series(BJSCS) Tile Gallery sponsored Barbados Junior Surfing Club(BJSC) event.The Lynch Insurance event # one U-18 champ Joshua Burke has been testing his innovative aerial maneuvers in the South Point surf the entire week,along with U-18 girls champ Chelsea Roett,U-14 winner Dane Mackie and 10-U domineer Che Allan.President of the BJSC Alan Burke states " Its always an accomplishment when you are at the top,but the accomplishment grows when you can achieve staying there,everyone wants to beat you, and to remain cutting edge one must practice daily!"

The forecast for the weekend is very promising and the junior surfers will be put to the test,The BJSCS was introduce last year to cater to junior surfers in Barbados,meaning hosting surf events in kid friendly locations,allowing water patrol assistance,providing information and exposing the kids for learning all aspects of competition surfing,having a panel of three experience judges and introducing three junior judges to learn.Neil Burke Managing Director of Tile Gallery knows the feeling of being a junior surfer too well,he was the first Junior to represent Barbados at The 1984 World Surfing Championships (California)since the Bdos Surfing Assoc. was reformed in 1983,"I have very fond memories of representing Barbados as a junior surfer,and if these events can provide a foundation for junior surfers to experience what I have in the 80's,I support the Barbados Junior Surfing Club for their efforts" Burke states.

BJSC Burkie Junior Surf Series - Event #2 - Sponsored by Tile Gallery - 20th March 2010

The second event of the BJSC Burkie Junior Surf Series is to be held at South Point, CH CH, Barbados on the 20th March 2010. The event is being sponsored for the second year in a row by Tile Gallery distributors of porcelain, ceramics, marble and travertini in Barbados.

The divisions to be contested include 10& Under, 12& Under, 14& Under, Under 16 and Under 18 with 12& Under Girls and Under 18 Girls. Cost of entry is $30 for first division entered and $5 for additional divisions. If the annual membership fees have not been settled these are due prior to the event should the competitor wish a divisional slot to be granted for event #2 . We welcome all prospective new members, current members and families and friends for a fun filled day of surfing action.

The longboard division will not be contested at this event, it is being planned that a special fun day will be organized in the near future which we will have a longboard contest, beginners only division and other specialty events. More information will be provided to BJSC members shortly.
